Digital Imaging
Many patients in today's society are very familiar with the latest technology and are more comfortable with the high tech practice. At Solly Family Dentistry we utilize computers and flat-screen television in each room as our primary method of information processing.
An intraoral camera is a very small camera, allowing our practice to permanently save or view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. The staff at Solly Family Dentistry uses an intraoral camera to help enhance patients' understanding of their diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!
Direct Digital x-ray technology is also utilized at Solly Family Dentistry. Direct Digital x-rays offer more precision since we can view the image on a computer monitor immediately after it has been taken. Digital x-rays results in 80 -90% less radiation when compared to traditional rays. (When comparing dental x-rays with medical x-rays, it's 1/10th less radiation being produced in each exposure!)
Drs. David and Nicole choose carefully which and when radiographs are taken on an individualized basis. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
The advantages of digital imaging in our practice (with an intra-oral camera and digital x-rays) enable us to not only store patient images, but also enables us to quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists.
Laser Treatment
Drs. David and Nicole Solly utilize an Ezlase at Solly Family Dentistry, which is the #1 selling dental laser. Ezlase® does not generate heat, vibration or pressure and is an extremely versatile tool that allows dentists to achieve results not available through other traditional products/tools.
It can be used for a wide range of soft tissue surgery, root canal therapy, crown and bridge procedures, hygiene cleanings, whitening and temporary relief from minor TMJ pain. Typically, Ezlase Dentists require less anaesthetic reducing patient anxiety and providing a quicker treatment that makes a more relaxing dental experience.
Oraqix
At Solly Family Dentistry, we implement Oraqix, a needle-free anesthetic. Oraqix is administered topically at and below the gum line, which is effective and efficient for hygiene cleanings. In clinical studies, 70% of patients preferred Oraqix to a needle injection anesthetic because the anaesthetics onset is a quick 30 seconds, and the anaesthetic duration is approximately 20 minutes. Normal sensation is typically returned at the conclusion of the office visit.
Oraqix is site-specific anaesthetic, making it a great choice for periodontal maintenance with scaling, root planing and full-mouth SRP. Oraqix allow hygienists to better control anaesthetic placement minimizing the chance of anaesthetizing areas not being worked on.
